About
Why this handbook exists
Pocket Apologetics helps Christians answer hard questions about the faith. Some come from skeptics, some from other religions, and some from our own hearts. Every answer is grounded in Scripture and supported by history, evidence and the original languages. Every answer is offered, as Peter says, “with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15–16).
Statement of faith
This handbook is for Christians of every tradition. It stands on the historic faith shared by the church across the centuries, summarized in the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds:
- One God, eternally existing as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, born of the virgin Mary.
- His atoning death for our sins, His bodily resurrection, and His return in glory.
- Salvation by God's grace through Christ.
- The Holy Scriptures as the inspired Word of God.
Where faithful Christians disagree on secondary matters, we lay out the main views fairly and leave the conclusion to your conscience and your church. Unity in essentials, liberty in non-essentials, charity in all things.
How entries are made
Each entry is researched, fact-checked against primary and scholarly sources, and then reviewed by our theological reviewer. Entries still awaiting review are marked Draft.
